Austrian LIFE Platform Meeting

The LIFE WILDisland project attended the 26th Austrian LIFE Platform meeting, held on April 23rd and 24th in Rosegg, the Northern Bald Ibis was the focus. The LIFE Platform meeting is an event where project participants can inform themselves about ongoing LIFE projects and exchange ideas, discuss common problems, issues and solutions, as well as meet some of the external monitors and representatives from CINEA.

All the Austrian WILDisland project partners gathered at the meeting - Donau-Auen NP, viadonau and Verbund and this presented an excellent opportunity for internal talks and coordination. Since our project was presented last year, this time two other projects, taking place in the Donau-Auen NP were presented - the Dynamic LIFE Lines and the LIFE Free Sky sister projects.

The event was hosted by the LIFE Northern Bald Ibis Project in the impressive setting of Rosegg Castle and the zoo, which offered an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at this year's Ibis hand-rearing process.

As an additional bonus, the participants could watch the performance group ‘Schall und Rauch’ which provided a wonderful introduction with their piece about the Northern Bald Ibis, which captivated not only the participants of the LIFE Platform but also many local children.

We are grateful for the kind hospitality and looking forward to the next opportunity for exchange!
