General Information

This is an artificial island resulting after the cutting of the „M” meander on the Sulina branch in the XIX. century. It has one permanent settlement -Crisan- on the south part of the island an some other buidings in the north part. Vegetation consists mostly in the presence of reed. On the edges and some areas on the west part of the island willows and poplars are present. Pisciculture is dominant here in terms of land use.
