WILDisland information boards in Donau-Auen

News

We are happy to announce that all the visitors of the Donau-Auen National Park who pass by the Au-Terasse Stophenreuth will now be able to read more about WILDisland and the Schwalbeninsel island complex on the freshly installed information board on site. The board is practically mounted a couple of kilometers downstream the island, where restoration measures will take place, but its location was selected so that it reaches a maximal number of tourists, since we are trying to limit the visitor pressure on the restored site.

The Au-Terrasse on the Danube near Stopfenreuth is a two-story platform at the end of the riverbank road. It provides views of the river and serves as a rest area during the day. Even though the former campsite there is no loger available,  the viewing platform and an exhibition on the history of the region is still accessible.

Thus, this site in the Donau-Auen National Park once again serves recreation-seekers as well as hikers who appreciate the experience of nature. Furthermore, the meadow near the car terrace will be shortly replanted with site-appropriate woody plants and will take a natural development.

We hope to soon install one more information board at the Schloss Insel area of the Donau-Auen National Park, where even more visitors, families and kids come to learn about the Danube and its conservation each year.

We will keep you posted!
