General Information
The Thurnhaufen includes natural river banks (restored within a LIFE project in 2006), some of the most impressive gravel banks, as well as a very dynamic side branch. Further steps of restoration (e.g. removal of cross dams in the side branch) are foreseen to qualify this island (currently island character B) as WILDisland.
As nature zone of the Donau-Auen National Park commercial activities are excluded from this island.
