General Information

The islands lie in a natural river section in the newly designed Danube meanders. In the northeast, in the old Danube course, bank reinforcements were destroyed by erosion or undermining. In all areas there are smaller, but significant bank demolitions as well as sediment deposits and dead wood. During the redesign, an artificial old arm was created. Small islands and shallow water areas were created in the riverbed by lenticular graveling.
