General Information
The islands DE129 and DE130 lie in a natural river section between Sigmaringen and Sigmaringendorf. they are characterized by a silver willow landscape.
The Danube forms a meander loop here in which renaturalisation measures were carried out about 10 years ago. By the connection of a former old arm the islands developed. Stones were removed from the banks of the Danube and brought into the river as sturgeon bricks. A flood channel gives the Danube further development potential. In three places on the DE129 island, the turf was removed in order to facilitate the emergence of woody plants. The island is now densely covered with nettles. There are scattered willow bushes hanging over the shores.
