The island is formed within the sidearm between the riverbank and the Szabadsag-island, presumably as a result of natural sedimentation process. It is app. 500 m long and 80 m wide, mostly covered by softwood gallery forest, at the upstream part there is a small sandbar.
The forest on the island shows a natural feature in species composition, the major species are Salix alba and Populus nigra, and a few young Ulmus laevis, Fraxinus angustifolia ssp pannonica, Juglans regia and Morus alba seedlings are also visible. There is evidence of beavers as chewed trees can be seen. Most common birds in the surrounding area are Egretta garzetta, Nycticorax nyctocorax, Ardea cinerea, Ciconia nigra and Actitis hypoleucos. The island is also situated within the buffer zone of a pair of Haliaetus albicilla.
