General Information

This is an artificial island created after the cutting of the „M” meander on the Sulina branch in the XIX. century. It has two permanent settlements – Mila 23 and Crisan – the first one in the north part of the island and the second one in the south part. Vegetation consists mostly in the presence of reed. On the edges and some inland areas willows and poplars are present. Pisciculture is dominant here in terms of land use.
