General Information
Lush vegetation gives this old and wide island a unique character. It is located in the main river channel and surrounded by water all year round despite the water level of the river. Big and old willows, poplars, ashes and mulberry trees covered and surrounded by wild vines are found on the entire surface of the island. Underneath this vegetation floor grass, wild blackberries and a few Amorpha fruticosa are present. The island has the appearance of a well-defined ecosystem with predominantly maturetree vegetation.
Island RO081 ornithofauna is characterized mainly of the presence of birds that are drawn to the old tree vegetation. Among the species frequently observed in the area, some of the most remarkable are glossy ibis (Plegadis falcinellus) which uses the area for resting and feeding purposes, without nesting on the island, and black-crowned night heron (Nycticorax nycticorax)
