General Information
This is a young island developing in the center of the main river channel. Its vegetation is similar to the other islands’ from upstream, which consists of a young mixture of willows, poplars, ashes and Amorpha fruticosa. Underneath the trees wild vines, wild blackberries and different species of grass are growing.
The island is used for nesting by a relatively small number of species, generally of small size. Among the bird species observed, we mention Eurasian golden oriole (Oriolus oriolus), great reed-warbler (Acrocephalus arundinaceus) and common starling (Sturnus vulgaris).
On island RO097 there were identified bird, mammal, amphibian and insect species protected by OUG 57/2007:
- Eurasian golden oriole (Oriolus oriolus)
- Otter – (Lutra lutra)
- Syrian spadefoot (Pelobates syriacus)
