General Information
This island is developing in an area situated at the confluence between the main channel and the former channel of the Sfantu Gheorghe branch, as a result of the cutting of the meander. The island surface is covered with a high density of willow trees and reed. The different stages of evolution are very visible through the height of the groups of willows. Based on drone pictures, the island seems to be formed by the union of three levees, which have depression areas filled with water in between them. The island is used for nesting by a relatively small number of species, generally of small size.
